It’s time, once again, for us to reflect upon the good works of our fellow AAJAers!
This is the annual call for nominees for the Member of the Year, President of the Year and Chapter of the Year. Please solicit suggestions from your local boards and your members. Which AAJA member has gone above and beyond, locally or on the national level? Which chapter president has done the most outstanding work? Which one of our 20 chapters sets the standard for excellence?
Suggested honorees should be considered primarily for the work accomplished in the previous calendar year (2009). Supporting information may include outstanding efforts at other times, including this year, on behalf of AAJA.
The following awards are given each year at our national convention:
AAJA Member of the Year
AAJA Chapter President of the Year
AAJA Chapter of the Year
Executive Officers will take recommendations into consideration when making their decisions. Candidates from outside the recommendation process may be considered. At the officers’ discretion, outstanding work beyond the previous calendar year may be taken into account.
There are no forms to fill out. To submit a recommendation, simply e-mail AAJA National Secretary Doris Truong (aajadoris@yahoo.com) the following information:
1. Name of the person making the recommendation.
2. Name of the recommended person or chapter. (Please note: If you are nominating for Chapter President of the Year, if the chapter has co-presidents, both people must be nominated.)
3. Category (Member of the Year, Chapter of the Year, etc.).
4. Statement about why the recommended person/chapter should be recognized. Please include concrete examples that demonstrate excellence on behalf of AAJA.
People recommended for Member of the Year must have been members in 2009, and nominees for Chapter of the Year must be chapters in good standing.
The deadline to e-mail recommendations is Friday, May 7, 2010.
