Chapter elections 2013: Wendy Tang, Hong Kong – Hong Kong Vice President

After serving as chapter secretary for two years, I’m running for Hong Kong vice-president.

Many of you are familiar with the workshops and seminars AAJA-Asia has held in Hong Kong, and I plan to bring us more interactive and skill-building sessions. In the past year, I organized a workshop on photography and a resume critique, providing opportunities for members to meet veterans in the industry for career advice. I also co-chaired N3Con, the international journalism conference that has become the chapter’s signature event; at the 2013 conference, I established the event’s first media job fair. I have also witnessed Hong Kong’s membership nearly double, and I’m happy to be a part of the team that has driven the chapter to make history — winning the national AAJA “Chapter of the Year” award two years in a row.

If elected, I plan to organize workshops with industry leaders to discuss topics including online portfolios, clips and reels critiques. I also intend to continue to help take the lead in organizing the annual N3Con conference.

AAJA is a family to me. I’ve had the privilege to make many friends and expand my professional network. Now I want to give back to the organization and my hometown of Hong Kong by being a leader.

I’m seeking your vote to endorse me as Hong Kong vice-president.
