The speaker will give a short talk on the growing influence of Asian American voters in the U.S. presidential election process.
Christine Chen is the founder and executive director of APIAVote, a Washington, D.C.-based nonpartisan organization that conducts research and polling of Asian American voters and organizes regional training and field programs to help grassroots partners mobilize Asian American and Pacific Islander voters. APIAVote is partnering with the Asian American Journalist Association to bring a Presidential Candidate Town Hall to the 2016 AAJA National Convention August 10 – 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Profiled by Newsweek in 2001 as one of 15 women who will shape America’s new century, Ms. Chen served from 2001 to 2005 as executive director of the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA). She is also president of Strategic Alliances USA, a consulting firm specializing in coalition building, institutional development, and partnerships among the corporate sector, government agencies, and the nonprofit and public sector.
