Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal are looking for a news editor to oversee coverage of Asia’s vital technology sector. The position is preferably based in Hong Kong.
The editor will work across platforms – principally Newswires, WSJ.com and the print Journal – directing technology news from around the region to suit our various audiences, from stock traders to shoppers for the latest gadgets.
Applicants should have a background in business journalism, a sensitivity to trends and a curiosity about innovation and how it parlays into the commercial sphere. They will be expected to demonstrate excellent news judgment, strong writing and editing skills, and a proven track record in breaking news. Both real time financial news experience and social media savvy will be a definite plus.
In addition to driving the daily news file and setting the coverage agenda for all platforms, the successful candidate will oversee and contribute to WSJ technology-related blogs. He/she will also manage Newswires coverage of Asia’s media and telecommunications sectors, and will help deputize on the wider corporate news file when called upon.
