AAJA-Asia welcomes Jun Stinson, winner of a 2010 scholarship from the SF Bay Area chapter, who is spending the summer in Japan. A student at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, she is currently an intern in the AP’s Tokyo bureau.
Jun spent her childhood in Oakland, California and Nishinomiya, Japan. She is interested in stories related to youth, gender and immigrant communities and hopes to someday return to Japan as a journalist.
She recently spent a month in Okinawa on a multimedia journalism project, focusing on the relocation of a controversial U.S. Marine base. You can watch her video report on washingtonpost.com here: http://bit.ly/dzdY5u.
